ANDALUCIA

To many people, Andalucia means the Costa del Sol, literally the 'coast of the sun'. According to the locals, the Costa del Sol enjoys more minutes of glorius sunshine each year than any of the other vacation resorts - and who are we to say they are wrong?. However, it would be wrong to thing that this is the only attractinon of Andalucia.

Once you travel inland a little, you find the picturesque 'pueblos blancos' (white villages), clinging on to the equally stunning mountains on the mountainsides. These quiet and isolated villages have changed very little since Andalucia was freed from Moorish control, and the many castles in the region pay tribute to their unsettled past.

Here the traveller can drive past fields of sunflowers and orchards of olive trees, cork trees and orange and lemon trees before settling down in one of the village bars to sample the local food and drink.

The larger cities such as Seville, Cadiz and Granada offer a more vibrant and exciting experience, with busy markets and exhilerating fiestas.
